Arrival:
  • Please arrive to Southmoreland High School (2351 Route 981, Alverton, PA 15612) between 8:00-8:30am on Saturday, December 16, 2017!  
  • You may park in either the side lot near the band room (band trailer outside of the doors) or the back entrance outside of the Auditorium.  If stairs are an issue, please park outside of the band room!  There will be students and signs to help guide you. 
  • Registration will be outside of the main auditorium doors. 
  • You will be asked to register and provide payment upon arrival.  Please remember it is $15 for each participant and banquet guests are $6.00 for each adult guest (10 and older), $3 for each child (age 5-9) and free for toddlers age 4 and under.  Our budget is very tight, please make sure to bring payment.  Cash is preferred but checks made payable to Southmoreland Activity Fund are acceptable. 
  • If you ordered a t-shirt they are $5 and will be provided at the registration table.
 
Schedule/Rehearsal:
  • Seating will occur at 8:45am and rehearsal will begin promptly at 9am. 
  • The stage temperature is unpredictable.  I would dress in layers!  It will be cozy on stage with approximately 105 members.  We will rehearse tentatively with the following schedule:
  • 9-9:10 warm-ups (Jamie) Scales, Southmoreland Alma Mater (maybe, for fun- Scotland the Brave & the Highland Fling?), tune on Concert Bb and F
9:10-9:45 Ukrainian Bell Carol- Bob Springer
9:45-10:20 Sussex Mummer's Christmas Carol- Jim Henigin
10:20-10:55 Charlie Brown- Shawn Harris
10:55-11:10 Break (snack-muffin and water, provided)
11:10-11:45 Exaltation- Don Stoner
11:45-12:20 Whisper to Their Souls- Jude Gore
12:20-12:25 Stretch J
12:25-1:00 Christmas Festival- Jamie Gore
1:00-1:10 Clear out auditorium and move items to locker rooms in gymnasium
1:10-2:40 Banquet/Change (some may choose to change then eat to avoid congestion/waiting in rooms)
2:40 pm doors open to public
2:45 full group photo, conductors on the sides of the stage near the stairs
2:55 tuning
3:00-4:00 Concert
 
Banquet
  • Please have guests arrive between 12:55-1:10pm.  They may park anywhere around SHS, but the back and side doors have the best access. 
  • Menu: Turkey, Stuffing, Gravy, Sweet Potatoes, Green Beans, Roll, Dessert, Tea, Water. 
  • Please remember we do not have high chairs at SHS, but you are welcome to bring whatever your family needs to be comfortable.
  • Please feel free to bring “momentos” to share.  We have a few scrapbooks that are coming to be shared at the banquet (please mark them with your name somehow).  Though I know everyone would be cautious, please know this is done at your own risk.
  • We are making a dessert table.  If you would be willing to donate anything, please bring it with you and we’ll have a dessert buffet!  Please take your left-overs home after the concert!
 
Attire:
  • It was originally stated for attire to be concert black (black and white or all black), but it has been changed  to wear dress clothes of any color.  Please do not make special arrangements to get new clothing.  We’re just thrilled to share this experience with you!  Updated attire: Dress clothes- no color restriction! 
 
Concert Information:
  • Doors will open by 2:40pm
  • Admission is by donation – donations will benefit Southmoreland families through a food drive program sponsored locally.  This is a non-profit event for the school and music department.
  • The concert will last approximately 1 hour.
  • CD’s will be on sale at the door or you can take a form to order later.
 
Weather:
  • In the unlikely (I HOPE!) event of bad weather, please check www.southmorelandband.net and the southmoreland hs band alumni facebook page for updated information.  This email address would also be contacted.
